Cinnamon Apple Oatmeal

Although there happens to be a special place in my heart(or should I say stomach) for oatmeal, I realize not everyone shares this sentiment. However, if you’ve found your way to this recipe I’ll assume you at the very least value this hearty grain for its health benefits. Either way, I’m pretty sure you will enjoy this tasty, heart-healthy breakfast.

Cinnamon Apple Oatmeal

Serves 1

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal (old-fashioned roll oats)
  • 1 small apple, diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Small dash of salt

Bring water with a dash of salt to a boil in a small pot. While the water is heating, chop the apple, peeling it first if you don’t want the skin on. I don’t mind it and I’ve heard the skin of the apple is where a lot of nutrients are so I leave it on. Add the oatmeal, apple chunks and cinnamon to the pot and simmer over low heat for about 5 minutes. Once the oats are tender and the liquid is mostly gone , it’s ready to eat!

I like to top mine with a sprinkle of raw walnuts and a little bit of raw honey.
